Weighted Release

Also known as White Pass Lean.

A transition in which the downhill (outside) leg carries the skier's weight through the entire transition, and the new turn is initiated by rolling that ski over onto its downhill edge and starting the new turn on that same ski. The skier's weight is transferred to the other (the new outside) ski at around the apex of the new turn. This manoeuvre was made famous by American ski racer Steve Mahre in the early 1980's.
