Snowplough

Also known as a Wedge in the US.

A braking manoeuvre in which ski tips are pointed inward, tails outward, and pressure is put on the inside edges, creating friction and helping with balance and control.

Although the snowplough (also spelled snowplow) is one of the first techniques a beginner skier learns, even advanced skiers use it at the beginning of runs whilst they adjust goggles or put on gloves.
