Sintered Ski Base

A form of ski base that is formed by moulding polyethylene under pressure and heat, but without melting it. The result is a abrasion-resistant, porous, wax-absorbent surface.

Typically found on mid- to upper-end ski models, sintered bases are usually more expensive than extruded bases and outperform them when properly glide-waxed.
