Setting an Edge

Tilting the skis quickly onto their uphill edges whilst across the fall-line, to produce a sudden braking action, often in preparation for the next turn.

The angle of an edge set in relation to the fall line will vary according to the degree a skier wants to brake; for example, on a blue run the angle might only be 30° to the fall line, whilst on a very steep slope the angle may well be 90°.
