Grip Wax

Also known as Hard Wax or Kick Wax..

A tacky, petroleum-based wax that is applied to the ski to provide traction on fresh snow. It produces this grip by allowing the rough edges of snow crystals to penetrate the wax layer just enough to grab hold of the ski when it is weighted and stationary. The wax does not keep the ski from gliding smoothly when already in motion.
