Green
A colour designation used at ski trails to indicate difficulty ratings.
In Europe
Learning or beginner slopes. These are usually not marked trails, but tend to be large open, gently sloping areas at the base of the ski area.
In North America:
Shown as a green circle.
The easiest pistes at a mountain, with wide, groomed trails and slope gradients ranging from 6% to 25% (where a 100% slope is a 45 degree angle).
In New Zealand
Beginner slopes. However NZ green routes are much more difficult than North American Greens, and may be as hard as an American Blue or even Black run at some resorts.
In Japan
Beginner slopes. These are usually near the base of the mountain, although some follow switchback routes down from the top.
