Geländesprung

Also known as Gelande (pronounced 'ga-lun-day').

From the German word meaning terrain-jump, gelandesprung is the sport of ski jumping with standard Alpine skiing gear. The jumpers' skis are extremely long and they use the "V" style of Olympic jumping for flight position. The jumps are generally performed with a push off both poles. In competition, total points are based on the length of a jump and style points combined.
