Contre Virage

French for 'against the turn'.

A term that is used to describe an extra part of a turn added on to the end of a main turn. As a skier comes to the end of a turn, they can either unweight the skis by dropping down a fraction quickly, or they may counter-rotate, thereby steering the skis. The tails can then move round enabling them to initiate an edge set.
