Christie

Also known as Christiania.

A braking parallel turn in which the skis skid for all or part of the turn. It was reputedly invented in Christiania (now Oslo), Norway during the 19th century. As the skis are not angled up on their edges, this manoeuvre is easier to perform than carving turns.
