Carve

A term that is used to describe making a high speed turn in a clean arc, with little skidding movement. The skier must put weight and pressure on the ski edge, which forms an arc in the snow.

Carving is determined by edging, along with the side-cut and camber of any given ski. It produces a smaller radius arc than merely edging, and produces the fastest and most efficient turn possible.
